Musikgarten with Carol
Ages 0-7
“Musikgarten with Carol” offers class music instruction to children (with caregivers) from birth to seven years-of-age, encouraging them to become actively engaged in music-making, to bond with caregivers through music, and to develop neurological pathways leading to musicianship, dance and movement skills, language development, and other cognitive abilities. Music and movement instruction through Musikgarten will give your child the very best start and prepare them to smoothly transition into Academy of the Performing Arts classes and private lessons. Carol Pharo, professional musician, dance, drama, and ESL instructor, brings a unique perspective to the acclaimed Musikgarten curricula. Carol’s classes extend beyond other established programs to include a hands-on orientation to instruments, such as piano, violin, recorder, and harp, beginning ballet technique, and the development of a child’s creativity through creative dance and drama activities.
Classical Ballet & Creative Dance
Ages 3+
Carol Pharo excels in bringing out the best in very young dancers! Ballet technique is emphasized from the beginning—but not the kind that turns kids off to dance or scares them away from hard work. Classes and performances are a joy, all with age-appropriate goals. Carol’s classes are also unusual in promoting a high level of creative dance—formed by her training and mentorship with Betty Jane Dittmar and the Strawberry Hill Camp for the Arts.
At the Academy of the Performing Arts we develop the whole child, with a singing ballet teacher, an established ballet syllabus, creative dance to live music (piano, violin, recorder, harp, etc.), and dramatic themes with props and costumes.
The movement technique and creative/musical development your child receives will last a lifetime!
